Stillness in Motion

Fine Art Ink, Stipple Art · 42 × 59 cm · 2021

This stippling piece is a tribute to the iconic Stilt Fishermen of Sri Lanka, embodying resilience, patience, and absolute balance. I chose dot art to mirror the fishermen's discipline. The stilts are rendered with dense dot-work for strength, contrasting with the careful variation of dots used to capture the rhythmic motion and light on the Indian Ocean. The solitary figures are simple silhouettes, emphasizing the act of waiting—a patient balance where success hinges on stillness. This painting celebrates human ingenuity and unwavering poise against the vast, indifferent sea.
